We often get asked "What do I do with an old American flag? Can't Scouts retire them?"

Yes, we do. About twice a year (give or take) we plan a flag retirement ceremony. The older Scouts in our Pack participate to say respectful words about the flag, it's life of service, and all that it represents. After that each flag is carefully and ceremoniously burned in the fire. These are very moving and meaningful ceremonies and an important part of the citizenship component of the Scouting program and the character development of our Scouts.
